Ham Shack
from the picturesque Green Mountains in Stamford, Vermont. Stamford is a border
town, two towns north of North Adams, Mass. famous for " Sprague Capacitors
" near US Route 8, a north/south corridor. Our ham
shack is exactly 12.4 miles line of sight, due
north of Mt. Greylock ( elevation 3,491ft.) the highest point in
Massachusetts. We are in a small hollow, elevation 1600 ft., at the
base of Dutch Hill , over 3000 ft. high, on the southwest side. At 1600 feet we are still 5 to 10
degrees colder than the normal terrain, which makes it perfectly temperate in
the summer, but quite cold with very deep snow in the winter. For more on, Dutch Hill,
