James J. Smith, SK  N1XAS Father of KE1GF Hopkinton - Mass.

James John Smith, 58, of Hopkinton, died Peacefully in his sleep Saturday, April 16, 2005, at home after an illness.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of William J. Smith of Hopkinton and the late Mary C. (Hancock) Smith. He was divorced from Arlene F. (Deletti) Smith.

He grew up in Hopkinton, was educated in local schools, and graduated from Marion High School. He had worked as an electronics technician and lived in Hopkinton his entire life. He loved cooking, computers, and was an amateur radio operator. He was very devoted to his family.

He served with the US Navy and was a Vietnam War veteran, Honorably Discharged with a rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his son, William P. Smith KE1GF of Hopkinton, and his daughter, Rebecca A. Smith of Worcester. Bill, KE1GF's Web Site
